Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomena one who was able to completely cross over from country to the mainstream making her an iconic popular icon, and sweeping the globe in the process. Swift shed country like it was a second layer and proved that she is perhaps the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. Someone who is able to harness the zeitgeist to make it personal and also sing in the other direction. The skills she displayed were apparent on her earliest hits especially the Neo-Tribute Tim McGraw but her second album, 2008's Fearless showed a writer discovering who she was and in the process, finding a mass audience. Fearless became a massive success not only in the United States, where six of its singles have been declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also smashed records across all over the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this achievement and propelled Swift into the stratosphere of superstardom. With her subsequent three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she became part of a music scene in which it became clear she was a part of. However, even when she reduced her style with the 2020's stripped-down siblings' folklore and Evermore she remained atop the pop world a position that she maintained through re-recordings from her older catalogs as well as Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 collection.
