Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She is co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington has been television personality, journalist, television philanthropist and author for over ten years. In addition, she is the owner of The Huffington Post, an free-of-cost online newsmagazine. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family when she was sixteen years of age. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. It was her first time as a student non-UK to hold the office of president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. After graduation she made her reputation as an editor for a conservative newspaper and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed a voice-based website that offered critical observations regarding the current political situation. Her celebrity status helped her by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to post their views regarding news in the field of culture and politics. Arianna became famous when she made the decision to stand as an independent presidential candidate during the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Apart from this she also directed an Detroit initiative to encourage fuel efficient cars. The project was named 12th on Forbes' list of most influential women in media. At the time, Guardian listed her among the top 100 figures in media. In 2011 AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made the president of that media company, which also included a number of at the time-operating AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos.
