Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television host and the owner of The Huffington Post. After moving from Greece to England from Greece at 16 and obtaining an MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. At 21 she became president of the famed debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. Following graduation, she left her mark as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice portal which gave critical opinions about the current political climate. In part, her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna became famous when she made the decision to contest independently for the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of the Detroit fuel-efficient car project. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as one of the top women in the media, achieving 12th position on their listing and the following year the Guardian listed her on the top 100 of media lists. In 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her president of that media group which included many at the time-current AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. The way she lived her life was determined by her closeness to her mother as well as her relationship with her father, despite her being very close to him. At an early age, she showed leadership abilities that are still highly regarded. at the age of 16 she moved into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the college debating group Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president.
