Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. After moving from Greece to England from Greece at 16 and obtaining an MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. The famous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it at the age of 21. She became a syndicated conservative writer following the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a few years following, she launched an online platform to voice opinions which offered critiques of political scenarios. In part, her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna was first noticed when she ran in the California recall election replacing then Governor Davis. The project she headed was an Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Forbes listed her as one of the "most important women" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the head of the AOL media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she shared a close friendship with both of her parents but it was their connection which shaped her. At a young age, she displayed the qualities of a leader that she is still known for. When she was in her 16th year she returned to the UK for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. While in college, she joined Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college which she later became the first female and foreign president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. In the years following her degree she became a columnist, critic as well as a TV host. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
